The 2008 conference has drawn to a close. The stats will be coming as soon as the new board has a chance to settle in and rest a bit. In the meantime we will be posting some photos of the conference this week. If you have any submissions please send them to the webmaster and also it would be nice to send a copy to the new Editor of the Advisor, Laurie Simon for inclusion in the next issue of the Advisor-print version.
We will be back in full swing on schedule, on budget and and on task with the new board of directors. See who is who on the board member page.
For those of you who have been concerned about the direction of the TLA at the change over meeting the new president, John Arnold, stated that there will be monthly conference calls by the board of directors to re-establish the line of communications. He has set the next board of directors meeting for May 3rd at a location to yet be determined. As a member of TLA you are invited to attend and voice your opinion and provide your input. This is your association and your opinion counts.
Discussions have begun as to the site of the 2010 conference so you can see that this new board is clearly visionary and thinking about the future. Several ideas were discussed about membership recruitment as well as road shows. Yes that is shows with a capital "S". President Arnold stated that he would like to have as many as five road shows this year across the state.
If you have any ideas as to locations and topics this is the time to contact any member of the board of directors. Your voice is very important this year, especially for the road shows. This organization was formed to provide education and to that end the new board agreed that they would be making every effort to have local education classes. These classes are not easy to plan and to host so time is very important. It is expected that by the next board meeting there will be discussion on where the road shows will be and the content so it is very important that you let them know now. Talk with your fellow locksmiths and if you can get a few together with a list of classes or even just a single class the chances of it happening in your area are greater.
If you sit back and don't tell the board what is needed in your area then chances are high that it will be somewhere else. If there is not interest, there will be no road show in your area.
At this time the position of secretary has not been filled however several candidates are being considered. If you feel you are qualified for this very difficult and time consuming job contact any member of the board of director. All of the duties of the board members are posted on the board page.
