When you "renew" your license on line it constitues payment, not renewal. The license is renewed when they receive the signed copy of the renewal form in the mail. Print out your receipt for the payment and attach it to your signed renewal form and mail it.

Do wrecker drivers need to have a locksmith license to legally open cars?

NO. The DPS has published a notice explaining the law and it is available at this link.

Does a person who works for a school district or is an "in-house" locksmith need a license?

No license is required unless the services are made available to the public. If you are a locksmith for a large manufacturing plant for example or a school district and service only the locks owned by your employer no license is required.

To whom do I direct questions about the Texas Locksmiths Association?

It depends on the inquiry. The members of the board of directors are listed on the Board Members page. If it is a membership status question you should direct yur question to the secretary. If it pertains to the TLA publication, the ADVISOR, direct the question to the Editor. Matters pertaining to the website can be sent to the webmaster. If in doubt send an E-mail to the president and he will route it to the appropriate person who may best address your concern.

How do I get a password for the member page?

Your password is your last name and your membership number.  If it does not work follow the instruction on the linked page.  If that fails send an E-mail to the Webmaster and include your membership number, if known, your full name and zip code and we will find out why you are locked out.

My name was listed on the membership page of the ADVISOR as a new member but I have not received a membership number. Is this a misprint or is there a problem with my membership?

Membership requires a vote by the board of directors. The board meets several times during the year at which time memberships are voted on and approved or denied. Your listing in the Advisor does not mean the board has approved your application. You will be notified by mail when your membership is approved.

I am having a technical problem and need to speak with someone who has more experience than I do. Where can I go for help?

If the problem is not a timely issue you can always ask that your question be published in the Advisor. Someone will probably respond to you inquiry. You can also check the member directory in the members only area and locate a person in your area. The membership directory now lists members by their City. There are also links in the library. There may be one there that can help you.
