I started in the locksmith industry in 1994. Most of my early education in this field came from jumping in head first and learning on the job, along with drawing on the knowledge of a friend in the industry who helped with my direction. Since, I have studied, taken certification courses and have become an advocate of continuing education.
My experience over the past 20 years has been varied. In the first six years in the business I did mostly automotive and residential with sprinkles of commercial. Business changes with time and I now focus more on commercial with a sprinkling of automotive and residential. I strive, with every educational opportunity, to stay on top of the changes in all aspects of the locksmith industry.I am an active member of TLA, GHLA, HGCAA, ALOA and past member of LASA, ALNT, IAIL (locksmiths association) this is my 6th year on the TLA board. I served 3 years as 1st Vice-President and I am currently serving as the 2015 President of the Texas Locksmiths Association.

I became a locksmith in 2007 as a result of a wonderful  neighbor, friend, and mentor named Joe Schnitzer.  Joe took me under his wing as a result of his battle with cancer and a lifelong bond and friendship was created. I was licensed under Joe and took owner of A&J Mason Road Locksmiths after Joe lost his battle with his illness.Today, I continue with the A&J name and take it to the next level of service as Joe always challenged me to do. I am blessed to provide services to my customers (whom I treat as my family) and I enjoy doing so without reservation. I follow my Father’s motto which is to always provide the “WOW!” service experience and to leave things better than what I found them.

I am the owner of Bravo Key & Lock, in Houston, Texas. I have been in the locksmith business serving the greater Houston and surrounding areas over 30 years. I first became interested in the industry when I saw a locksmith opening a vehicle and it occurred to me that perhaps I could do this type of work and earn money at the same time. I remember doing some correspondence courses and really enjoying the challenge of a new career. Since that time, I began my journey towards creating a successful business as a genuine locksmith.
Throughout the years working in this fast paced industry, I have met many wonderful mentors that eventually became my good friends. People such as Eddie Howell, David Russell, Ed Turner and Goff Fellow assisted with countless hours in shaping and molding the locksmith that I am today. I continue to work and learn daily along the side of many fellow locksmiths.
Today, I am a member of SAVTA, ALOA, GHLA, and TLA. In the past, I have served GHLA in the capacity of Sergeant-at-Arms, Treasurer, Vice President and I am currently the President for The Greater Houston Locksmith Association for 2015. I have served TLA as the Sergeant-at-Arms for the years of 2013-2014 and presently, I am the 2nd Vice President
of 2015 for The Texas Locksmith Association.
As the Sergeant-at-Arms, I have had the opportunity to meet people throughout Texas, especially at the 50th TLA convention of 2014 in Houston. I was able to coordinate with fellow board members in planning, soliciting and networking with various vendors to secure quality items within a set budget in order to set up the TLA store front. It was not only a positive experience as well as a successful project particularly with the help of board members.
Then, in my 2nd term, I was able to keep track of the stores’ inventory, placing proper orders as the TLA board met current needs. I was also able to participate in conferences/meetings as well as travel to scout and secure the proper location of the future TLA conventions.
On a more personal side, I want to introduce my family that consists of my wife Viola; two daughters, Melissa and Angela, their spouses; Rene and Eric, and lastly, with pride and joy, our grandchildren; Trey 6, Ian 5, Michael 5, Maeve 4, Kylee 2, and Tatum 17 months. It is amazing to see how they are growing!
Overall, I am pleased to serve TLA because I am not only gaining more personal experience, but I have the opportunity to serve others as well. As an industry, we are here to help each other, and remember, “There is strength in numbers”.

Past TLA President 2010-2011

After having worked in construction jobs and lumber yards for many years, and having a very basic understanding of lock mechanisms, I decided to start my locksmith company in June 2002. The business started out as a part time one man mobile locksmith operation.  Currently my son and I are both full time locksmiths and my wife and daughter-in-law work part time in the shop. I first was elected to the TLA Board of Directors in 2006 and have been honored to serve in different offices as Treasurer, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President and President. I am currently serving as the newsletter editor of the association.

I've was introduced into the locksmith world in 1996 by Stacy and Jim Hetchler, dabbling in residential rekeys, car openings, and basic car key generations. In 2004 I opened my own locksmith company and specialized in basic and high security automotive key generation and programing.  I've taught key generations, programing and basic epprom for TLA, as well as private classes around the country, and this will be my fourth year as a Just Cars instructor. In previous years I have taught ignition repair tips and tricks for Just Cars however this year, I'm excited to say, I will be joining Stacy Hetchler and the Just Cars+ crew in teaching the EEPROM class! I look forward to seeing new and old faces in the crowd this year!
